Why is there still so much antisemitism in wrestling?

As Wrestlemania approaches, the Menschwarmers take a deep dive into wrestling shandas.

This week is Wrestlemania, the biggest weekend in wrestling. It’s as good a time as any to air an interview with acclaimed wrestling journalist David Bixenspan. He joins The CJN’s Jewish sports podcast, Menschwarmers, to chat about the long and complicated history of Jews, Jewish stereotypes and antisemitism in wrestling, from Bill Goldberg’s reign to Brian Kendrick’s recently unsurfaced claims of Holocaust denial.

Plus, Gabe and Jamie update listeners on the standings of our GADYA tournament to determine the greatest Jewish athlete of all time, and we get an update on Roman Abramovich’s departure from Chelsea FC.

Support the Media that Speaks to You

Jewish Canadians deserve more than social media rumours, adversarial action alerts, and reporting with biases that are often undisclosed. The Canadian Jewish News proudly offers independent national coverage on issues that impact our audience each day, as a conduit for conversations that bridge generations.

It’s an outlet you can count on—but we’re also counting on you.

Please support Jewish journalism that’s creative, innovative, and dedicated to breaking new ground to serve your community, while building on media traditions of the past 65 years. As a Registered Journalism Organization, contributions of any size are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
