TORONTO – International pop star Beyoncé was in town this week, playing a two-hour set Wednesday night at the Rogers Centre. Considering how poorly the Raptors played that night, all eyes were most certainly on her (at least by halftime).
Following the concert, the ravenous Queen Bey reportedly made her way to Caplansky’s Deli, which many argue is home to the best smoked meat sandwich in town – they make a pretty mean smoked meat knish too, as The CJN recently learned.
“We don’t knish and tell. What happens in the deli, stays in the deli. We’re proud to serve the famous and not so famous alike,” Caplansky, who recently opened up a new location in Yorkville, told The CJN this morning.
The pop star reportedly racked up a $3,500 bill which, according to the Fader, was comprised almost entirely of the deli’s famous Montreal-style smoked meat.
The news has caused some to furrow their brows, given Beyoncé’s talk of embracing a vegan diet recently, but of course, we don’t even know for certain that Bey actually tried the meat, as it was likely to serve the appetite of her crew.
This is not the first time the pop star has endorsed a restaurant. Red Lobster got great publicity thanks to Bey’s latest single, Formation. Who knows, maybe she’ll throw in a shout-out to Caplansky’s in her next hit?
Drake would certainly approve.
