The Israeli military has uncovered and prepared for destruction a fourth attack tunnel that starts in Lebanon and stretches into Israel.

“The route of the tunnel is under the control of the IDF and poses no threat,” the Israel Defence Forces said in a statement.

“The tunnel, like the rest of the tunnels, has been encircled by the IDF and anyone entering it on the Lebanese side is endangering his life. The Lebanese government is responsible for the digging of tunnels from its territory. This is a serious violation of Resolution 1701 and the sovereignty of the state of Israel,” the statement said.

The military did not specify where the tunnel starts and ends.

The Israel Defence Forces earlier this month launched Operation Northern Shield, to identify and destroy the tunnels constructed in recent years by Hezbollah.

The IDF says there are additional tunnels to be located.
