Good news is less bad news: There’s been a fair bit of doom and gloom reporting about the crisis facing Jewish day schools in Toronto and York region. The good news is, there’s actually some good news, too.

Film about food: An Israeli documentary that opened at Toronto’s Ted Rogers Hot Docs Cinema June 16 examines whether Israeli cuisine actually exists, and what that looks – and tastes! – like.

Drake’s got buzz: Over the weekend, Drake was named the most “buzzworthy” (whatever that means) Canadian artist at the Much Music Video Awards, triumphing over bigwigs like Justin Bieber and The Weeknd. His song One Dance also won an award for best Canadian single.

Suspected heart attack for former PM: Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert, who is in prison for corruption, was rushed to the hospital Tuesday with a suspected heart attack.

Wonder shirt: Gal Gadot’s (Israeli) husband has a shirt comparing his wife to other people’s wives.

Imported tensions: The leader of the Jewish community in Chile has warned that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is being imported to the country, with tensions flaring between the Jewish and Palestinian populations there.

Mourning for police officer: Thousands attended the funeral of the 23-year-old Israeli Border Police officer Hadas Malka, who was stabbed by a Palestinian assailant as she responded to a Palestinian shooting attack.
