WATCH: Chanukah parody of ‘Hotline Bling’/’Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)’

"Now watch me spin, I spin my drey-drey"

With three days left until the Festival of Lights, the Chanukah parodies have come out in full force, with a cappella group the Maccabeats taking on Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance, Ari Blau of Blau Bright Productions creating a Jewish holiday-themed version of Adele’s Hello (aptly titled Shalom), and now, Six13, the guys behind the Chanukah-version of Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off, present a parody of two popular pop anthems: Silento’s Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) and Drake’s Hotline Bling.

The chorus goes as follows:

Now watch me spin
I spin my drey-drey
Now watch me spin
Shin, nun, gimmel, hay-hay
I light that wick
Lehadlik nay-nay
Because that oil lasted
For eight day-days

Unlike prior parodies, Watch Me (Spin/Drey Drey) seamlessly merges two pop hits into one, and features rap and vocals in a story about Chanukah. Given that the song was released the same day as the hashtag #MillenialChristmasSongs was trending on Twitter, maybe Six13 was hoping to get a Chanukah version trending as well?

In any event, it’s surely a contender for best Chanukah parody of the year, and will likely serve as the soundtrack to your first holiday dinner, accompanied with latkes, menorah-lighting, and jelly doughnuts. Chag Samayach.
