Chicago TV station sorry for Nazi symbol in Yom Kippur report

A Chicago television station apologized for using a graphic of a yellow badge that the Nazis forced Jews to wear during the Holocaust to illustrate its report on the start of Yom Kippur.

WGN aired the report on Tuesday night, hours into the Jewish Day of Atonement. The badge — shaped like the Star of David and featuring the word “Jude,” German for “Jew” — appeared atop concentration camp-uniform stripes and above the caption, “Yom Kippur.”

Viewers quickly responded on social media.

 

Broad City unveils Yom Kippur special, may film episode in Israel

There’s no doubt that Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are the two coolest Jewish girls in television. The self-proclaimed “Jewesses trying to make a buck” offer very relatable, albeit, raunchy humour via their Comedy Central show, Broad City, and the first two seasons surely struck a chord with fans.
