Taube: The strange relationship between Jews and free speech

The topic of Jews and freedom of speech has been occasionally viewed as a taboo subject in some quarters. Little wonder, considering that a significant component of this religious community doesn’t seem to truly respect this important concept.

Counterpoint: The native people of Israel

David Weinfeld says that he has “some difficulty with the concept of indigeneity” and questions whether Jews can really claim to be indigenous to the Land of Israel “after 2,000 years” in exile. Yet contrary to Weinfeld’s assertion, indigeneity in the Jewish context is not in fact a difficult concept.

All of this is not normal

Some say that Jews are difficult people, but in reality, our willingness to accept what should be unacceptable suggests otherwise.
