Montreal does not adopt IHRA definition of anti-Semitism

A motion to have Montreal adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism was withdrawn by the official opposition leader after he rejected the mayor’s proposal that the matter be given further study.

House committee agrees not to dilute terrorism offences

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs is applauding the house standing committee on justice and human rights for agreeing to keep a number of terrorism-related crimes as indictable offences, rather than turn them into potentially less serious summary conviction offences.

Canadian Jewish community increases security, following Pittsburgh attack

In the wake of the deadly shooting at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue on Oct. 27, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs said that while there is “no information whatsoever to suggest an elevated threat to Jewish communities in Canada,” it has confirmed that police have increased their presence and boosted patrols near Jewish facilities across the country.
