New cemetery for interfaith couples opens in the GTA

Rabbi Yael Splansky of the Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto, says there has been a “significant and steadily growing” need for a place where interfaith couples can be buried side-by-side. Last month, she announced that the synagogue has taken the lead in establishing a Jewish cemetery for interfaith families.

For anyone who’s visited small, half-forgotten Jewish cemeteries in eastern Europe, the scene at Toronto’s Roselawn Cemetery is eerily familiar. The good news: The push is underway to repair the long-forgotten Jewish graveyard.
