While no Jewish baseball fan is looking forward to waking up at 5 a.m. to watch Team Israel compete at the Tokyo Olympics, every Jewish baseball fan is still rooting hard. This marks the first year Israel has managed to assemble an Olympic baseball team at all—but with some all-star MLB talent and promising newcomers, they may truly have a shot at the gold.

On today’s episode of Menschwarmers, The CJN’s podcast about Jews and sports, Dean Pelman, a pitcher for Team Israel, takes a break from his training in South Florida to chat with hosts Gabe and Jamie, mere days before he sets out on the road to Tokyo.

It’s an outlet you can count on—but we’re also counting on you.
