American-Israeli convicted of making hundreds of bomb threats, Prince William visits the Western Wall, Miri Regev will not approve work on the pluralistic prayer pavilion at the Western Wall.

Michael Kadar, 19, an American-Israeli, was convicted of making hundreds of bomb threats to Jewish community centres and  Jewish schools here and in the U.S. He was convicted on Thursday in Tel Aviv District Court on several counts including extortion, conspiracy to commit a crime, money laundering and assaulting a police officer.

Prince William visited the Western Wall today as part of his visit to the Old City of Jerusalem. “May the God of peace bless this region and all the world with peace,” he wrote in the Western Wall guestbook.

Israeli Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev announced yesterday that she would not approve work on the long-delayed pluralistic prayer pavilion at Jerusalem’s Western Wall. She explained that her conscience could not condemn mixed-gender prayers at the Wall. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will take matters into his own hands in order to advance the work.

Congregation B’nai Israel in St. Catharines, Ont., has started an initiative called “Destination Simcha,” to market the small Conservative congregation’s 93-year-old sanctuary in the heart of wine country as an alternative to high-priced Toronto venues for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs and other celebrations.

Scottish hip-hop trio The Young Fathers were dropped from the lineup of Germany’s Ruhrtriennale arts festival due to their support for the Boycott Divestment Sanctions movement. The band was among several names who then pulled out of Berlin’s Pop-Kultur festival due to its sponsorship by the Israeli Embassy.
