An eighteen-year-old Israeli man was killed in a stabbing attack Monday at a gas station in the West Bank, near the town of Modiin.
Two others were also injured in the attack, including an Israeli woman who was lightly hurt, and another Israeli woman in her 20s who was injured in the stabbing, and transferred to Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem.
According to Israel’s Channel 2 News, the Palestinian assailant, named Ahmad Daash of the West Bank village of Ketana, was shot and killed by IDF soldiers in the area. Daash had reportedly arrived at the Route 443 gas station with the intent to carry out a stabbing attack.
Magen David Adom paramedics quickly arrived on the scene, but were unable to revive the young Israeli man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. “A young man… was lying on the ground unconscious, with stab wounds to the upper body, on the highway next to the gas station. Nearby, there was a young woman… approximately 20 years old, with stab wounds to her limbs. We gave both medical treatment on the scene,” said MDA medic Yitzchak Aryeh Goldfarb, reports the Times of Israel.
Several were arrested in connection to the attack, which took place hours after a separate incident in the West Bank, when a young Palestinian man armed with a knife approached IDF soldiers.
The man was shot and killed, and no IDF soldiers were injured.
Also on Monday, two Palestinian girls stabbed a 70-year-old Palestinian man in central Jerusalem with a pair of scissors. A 27-year-old Israeli was also injured by police fire. The attackers were identified as being 14 and 16 years old, from northern Jerusalem. The 16-year-old died at the scene, while the 14-year-old is currently in police custody.
Twenty-two Israelis have died since the recent wave of violence began in October.
