Beth Zion Congregation in Oshawa and  B’Nai Shalom V’Tikvah in Ajax will be holding a Holocaust memorial service on April 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. The service will be held at Beth Zion synagogue, located at 144 King St. E. in Oshawa.

The shuls will commemorate the victims of the Holocaust as well as genocides taking place worldwide at a candlelighting service that includes songs and readings.

Judy Lysy, the author of A Survivor’s Testimony – a Stolen Childhood, will speak at the memorial. Lysy, born in Czechoslovakia, was deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. She also worked in other slave labour camps and was liberated by the U.S. army in 1945.
