Josephine “Fina” Groper (Nov. 16, 1939—May 15, 2024)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Josephine “Fina” Groper who died peacefully at the Redwoods Retirement Residence at age 84.

She leaves behind her loving son Mark, daughter-in-law Marci, and grandchildren Emily and Adam.

Fina was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be in our hearts forever.

Thank you to all the staff at Redwoods Retirement Residence for their kindness and caring for Fina during her time there.

As per Fina’s wishes there will be a small celebration of life with immediate family only. To honour Fina’s memory donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association in her name are gratefully accepted.

Jewish Canadians deserve more than social media rumours, adversarial action alerts, and reporting with biases that are often undisclosed. The Canadian Jewish News proudly offers independent national coverage on issues that impact our audience each day, as a conduit for conversations that bridge generations.

It’s an outlet you can count on—but we’re also counting on you.
