Foreign Affairs Minister Marc Garneau will visit Israel, the West Bank and Jordan “to advance Canada’s support towards the goal of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the region and a two-state solution,” says a news release from his office.
It’s part of a trip Garneau is making to Italy, the Middle East and Lithuania from June 27 to July 8.
Details of the Middle East portion were not available at press time.
On June 28 and 29, Garneau will attend the meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh, the ministerial meeting on Syria, and the G20 Foreign Ministers’ and Development Ministers’ Meeting in Italy.
“These meetings are an opportunity to engage with partners and allies, strengthen multilateral relations, discuss pressing global security challenges, and further international economic cooperation,” Garneau’s office stated.
Karina Gould, Minister of International Development, will join G20 discussions virtually.
Garneau then travels to the Middle East, and will end his trip in Lithuania, where he will attend the Ukraine Reform Conference, an annual forum dedicated to advancing reforms in Ukraine.
