Donor Agreement

  • This Agreement relates to the provision to you by The Canadian Jewish News (“The CJN”) in association with any third parties, as authorized by The CJN in its sole discretion. This Agreement will be presented to you for acceptance in the course of the donation process. Information provided by you to fulfill a donation is subject to The CJN’s Privacy Policy.
  • By donating to the Service, you acknowledge that you are bound by the terms of this Donation Agreement with The CJN and/or any third party, as authorized by The CJN in its sole discretion.
  • Notwithstanding anything contained in this Agreement, you acknowledge that The CJN is at liberty to reject a request for a donation or the continuation of a donation at any time.

Payment of fees

  • Accepted methods of donations and frequency of donations will be specified by The CJN and selected by you at the time of donation. All donations, unless noted otherwise, are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
  • You acknowledge that the collection of donations and your payment information is to be processed by CanadaHelps (if the donation is made online) or by The CJN (if by phone or mail).
  • By donating to The CJN, you have the option to pay the donation and the processing fees using the payment method chosen and billed at the frequency provided.
  • If you choose to donate on a monthly basis, a request for cancellation must be sent to [email protected] such that it is received ten business days before the commencement of the donation cycle. Alternatively, you may cancel your donation through the subscription management system by logging into the website online.
  • If you choose to donate on a monthly basis, your preferred payment method will be automatically billed at the beginning of each donation cycle on or around the date that you first donated and, thereafter, at the commencement of the relevant periodic anniversary date of your donation.
  • You are responsible for maintaining accurate donor contact and payment information. 

Changes to service — made by you

  • You may change the frequency of donation payment in accordance with the notice provisions of this Donation Agreement. There are no refunds for cancelled donations that take effect after a completed donation is made.

The CJN Notifications

  • Where a notice is to be provided under the Donation Agreement:

    • In the case of a communication to be given by The CJN to you, The CJN may satisfy its obligation by, in its sole discretion:

      • sending you an email to the most up-to-date email address provided by you to The CJN as indicated in your donation information; and/ or

      • posting a notice of general application to all or a group of donors on The CJN’s website.

        In either case, receipt of such notice shall take effect on the earlier of two business days of: (a) the email being sent by The CJN, and/or (b) the posting of the notice on The CJN’s website.

        Where the notification is provided by email, The CJN’s only obligation is to provide the notice to the email address noted on file by you – even if there is a bounce back indicating that that email address is no longer valid, or that you are away.
        In the case of a communication to be given by you to The CJN, you shall direct such communication to [email protected]. Receipt of such communication shall take effect within ten business days of the receipt of the mail on The CJN’s server.
