Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich donated a six-figure sum to the Israeli Fulfilling Dreams charity, which gives children with serious illnesses unique experiences. Ambramovich’s donation funded flights, hotels and food for ill children to attend three World Cup games in Russia.
The ABC hit series Roseanne will return with a new spin-off called The Conners, but without the star Roseanne Barr, the network announced on Thursday. When Barr posted a racist comment on Twitter last month, the network cancelled the show.
An open letter published on June 19 is asking the NDP to withdraw from the Canada-Israel Interparliamentary Group, but so far the party shows no signs of caving to the pressure. There are currently four NDP MPs on the group, which works for “greater friendship and goodwill between parliamentarians of Canada and Israel.” Over 200 people signed the letter asking them to withdraw.
Jack Garfein, 87, a former movie producer who survived 11 concentration camps in the Holocaust, was honoured in New York by a Poland-based group commemorating genocide this month. Dean Cain, who was Superman in the 1990s television series Lois & Clark was also honoured for his documentary Architects of Denial about the Armenian genocide.
