Jewish groups denounce Trump’s pull-out: Jewish groups like the Reform movement and the American Jewish World Service decried President Donald Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate accords.

Jews helping flood victims: The American Jewish Joint Distribution was in Sri Lanka this week, providing emergency aid to victims of the catastrophic flooding and mudslides that killed hundreds of people and has displaced hundreds of thousands.

ACLU disagrees with Portland mayor: Despite the mayor of Portland’s plea to the federal government to revoke a permit for what he’s called an alt-right gathering planned in the city on Sunday, the American Civil Liberties Union has said the mayor’s call is unconstitutional.

The ACLU has also announced it will defend its victory against the Trump administration regarding the so-called Muslim ban, which the president’s administration just asked the Supreme Court to review.

Pine cone message not pretty: An anti-Semitic message was found spelled out on a street in pine cones in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania earlier this week.

Up in smoke: For the first time in since the 1970s, the number of Israeli smokers has gone up, bumping Israel to 28 out of 35 European nations with regard to the country’s percentage of smokers.

Avarit for peace: A typography designer in Israel has created a writing system that merges Hebrew and Arabic, with the hope of promoting coexistence between speakers of the two languages.
