Today's spiel includes: A CJN debate on M-103, JCC bomb threat arrest, Drake does an Amsterdam bar mitzvah.

Your Daily Spiel is The CJN’s roundup of trending stories in the Jewish world.

JCC bomb threat arrest: An arrest has been made in connection to some of the U.S. bomb threats against Jewish community centres and the ADL. Adam Serwer, senior editor at The Atlantic, tweeted that the man arrested appears to have been fired from The Intercept for making up stories and may have been making the threats to frame an ex-girlfriend.

Read The CJN debate on whether Jews should support M-103, the motion to condemn Islamophobia.

Then, read Ron Csillag’s latest on why some in the Jewish community are so fired up about the motion, and specifically the term “Islamophobia,” plus use of the term in recent motions in parliament.

The man charged in connection with bomb threats at Concordia University – actions condemned by Jewish groups – was apparently a PhD student studying economics at the school.

Drake does Dutch bar mitzvah: Dutch tabloids described the concept of a bar mitzvah as “worship ritual of spiritual maturation.” It did so to report on the lavish coming-of-age rager held for Amsterdam’s Noah Nissan, a party that featured Drake and Jamie Foxx.

Jewish bomb threats mapped: In 2017 alone, nearly half of the JCCs in the United States have received bomb threats. Check out The Forward’s interactive map, which highlights the times and places of the threats.
