From the Archives: Ice Cream Days

Walerstein’s Ice Cream Parlor, circa. 1923.  Abraham Walerstein worked in a cigar factory in Montreal before moving to Hamilton, and later to Toronto. He opened Walersteins Ice Cream Parlour at 332 Spadina Ave. in Toronto in 1917—just as Kensington Markets Jewish population was beginning to swell.
