A pair of Toronto-area Jewish day schools temporarily closed due to December 2021 COVID outbreaks

Eitz Chaim School, Springfarm branch, and Netivot HaTorah Day School, Jewish day schools just north of Toronto, will be temporarily closed due to COVID outbreaks, York Region Public Health announced Dec. 9.

Eitz Chaim had recorded 26 COVID cases (23 students and three staff) as of Dec. 8. Students who receive a negative PCR test can return to school Dec. 12. Students who do not get a test are required to stay off school until Dec. 19.

A branch of Eitz Chaim School in Toronto, which serves girls, has been closed since Dec. 6 due to a COVID outbreak.

Netivot HaTorah had recorded 16 cases of COVID among students. The school will reopen for students with a negative PCR test on Dec. 13.

Joe Dwek Ohr HaEmet Sephardic School in York Region had seven COVID cases (six students and one staff) as of Dec. 8, but remains open.
