On Oct. 12, a 13-year-old Israeli teen identified only as Naor was stabbed multiple times as he was riding his bicycle in the Pisgat Ze’ev neighbourhood of Jerusalem.

The teen was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, along with another victim of the stabbing attack, 21-year-old Yosef Ben Shalom.

On Sunday, Israeli police unveiled a brand new bicycle which they presented to Naor, wishing him a full recovery. The Hadashot Hapisga Facebook page shared a photo of the occasion, proclaiming that “Naor is back in action!”

Naor’s story received worldwide attention; however, the media headlines focused primarily on 13-year-old Ahmed Mansra, one of the suspects who perpetrated the attacks. Ahmed somewhat became a poster boy for Palestinian propaganda following the attack, due to a video that circulated online depicting him lying in a pool of his own blood.

Shortly after the attack, #IsraelKillstheKids was trending on Twitter, with users citing the video of Mansra lying in blood, after he was hit by a car. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned Israel for “executing” Mansra in “cold blood,” which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said furthered his “incitement” of violence against Jews.

“An Arab boy critically wounds a Jewish boy, and after the security forces stop him so that he cannot continue with his stabbing spree, he is turned into a martyr who was supposedly executed, having done no wrong,” Netanyahu said.

Eventually, Israeli police released footage of Mansra and his cousin running with their knives and stabbing Naor as he got on his bicycle.

After Mansra was treated in an Israeli hospital, he was released into the custody of Israeli police, and has since been charged with attempted murder, despite his young age.
