Neo-Nazis think marijuana legalization is a Jewish conspiracy

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that marijuana will be officially legalized on October 17, 2018. While many Canadians celebrated this decision, some neo-Nazis, perhaps predictably, did not. Some neo-Nazis were angry. Those neo-Nazis blamed the Jews.

You see, some white supremacists believe that the legalization of marijuana is a Jewish conspiracy aimed at lulling Western civilization into a drugged-up trance to distract them from the fact that we are taking over the world.

No, seriously. Some people think that.

Let’s look at a few particularly noteworthy quotes from a recent thread on the website 8chan, a safe space for vile, hateful and immature comments, where everyone is anonymous and can say whatever they want.

When someone posted news about Canada’s historic legalization bill, the outpouring of vitriol was controversial even among its own community, with some people defending marijuana – which turned out to be an unpopular opinion.

“If you are smoking the herbal Jew, you don’t belong on this board,” one person wrote.

“Weed kills your sperm count. This is another part of white genocide,” another replied.

“The only things that should go in your body are water, steak, and potatoes. Everything else is a Jewish scam including pharma,” someone added.

Another user believed that psychedelic drugs could be a “very, very positive thing in the right hands,” and blamed Jews for trying to obfuscate this fact. “What the k***s are scared about is the fact that you can use these drugs as tools for a greater purpose, for coming up with new ideas and new concepts. But no goy, stay in your little bubble and only look at the physical world around you. There is no spiritual world goy, shut up! Now go out there and keep spending money on my products so I can afford a new yacht, stupid goy.”

jewish marijuana conspiracy
Jews, weed and hippies conflated into one hideous meme.

It’s hard to trace this conspiracy back to its roots, but it made a big splash in January 2018 when Andrew Anglin, editor of the white supremacist Daily Stormer website, wrote a screed against the Trump administration after the idea of legalization in the United States came up.

“It is personally disgusting to me that we are condemning a generation of children to grow up baked in this noxious substance,” Anglin wrote. “Most of the marijuana industry, I can assure you, is run by Jews.”

Similar ideas were espoused at a Chicago mosque in September 2017 by Wesley Muhammad, a student minister at the Nation of Islam, which is run by the overtly anti-Semitic and increasingly obsolete Louis Farrakhan.

Muhammad blamed “the US government and the Synagogue of Satan,” Farrakhan’s term to describe Jews, as concocting a “scheme to use manipulated marijuana along with other drugs to de-masculinize and feminize the black male of America.”

In other words, Jews are pushing legal pot to turn black men gay.

Of course, none of these claims are backed up by any science or logic – merely the self-evident belief that Jews run the world.

This newfound openness is certainly tied to the recent recurring rise of public anti-Semitism worldwide. B’nai Brith Canada recently released their annual audit of anti-Semitism, showing that there were 1,752 incidents in 2017 – the most there’s ever been in a single year.

Meanwhile, according to the Anti-Defamation League, 2017 also saw 1,986 incidents of anti-Semitism in the United States.

It’s unlikely that this “herbal Jew” conspiracy will ever become anything meaningful or mainstream, but it’s good to know that there’s something else white supremacists are blaming us for.
