Christians Fete Israel

TORONTO — The Canadian Christian College will host a May 4 event to honour Israel for its 60th birthday. MPs and community leaders will attend, said B’nai Brith Canada, which is co-sponsoring the event with the college and Christians United For Israel-Canada.

Uprising Recalled

TORONTO — This past April 19, Erev Pesach fell 65 years to the day after Jewish fighters, also on Erev Pesach, began a month-long stand against a Nazi assault on the Warsaw Ghetto, Canadian Jewish Congress said in a statement. Noting that the brave fighters were “the first free-standing Jewish army” since the Bar Kochba revolt, CEO Bernie Farber, son of Shoah survivors, said “they fought using only small arms fire, Molotov cocktails, moxie and passion against one of the best trained and equipped armies of its day.”
