Your Daily Spiel is The CJN’s (almost) daily roundup of trending stories in the Jewish world.

The Diaspora reacts: Jewish leaders and organizations in Canada have roundly criticized the Israeli government’s decision to scrap a plan to create a multi-denominational, unisex prayer area at the Western Wall, and for changing the way conversions are handled.

Accused of hate: Warren and Lisa Kinsella have initiated a private prosecution against the editor and publisher of Your Ward News, a controversial publication distributed in parts of Toronto that peddles in bigotry and conspiracy theories, alleging that they were the targets of a death threat. Meanwhile, the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center has lodged a hate speech complaint against one of the speakers at last weekend’s Al-Quds Day rally in Toronto.

Pairs well with fireworks and beer: As Canadians get set to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, a special edition of The CJN hits the newsstands this week. While we’re sure you all have subscriptions,  some of the content is available right here at cjnews.com.

Get your patches ready: Some are speculating that the latest ransomware attack, commonly referred to as Petya, was actually intended as a cyberattack on Ukraine, but that hasn’t stopped it from infecting computers in more than 60 countries worldwide, including Israel. At least two Israeli hospitals were affected, but luckily they did not suffer major damages. The best way to protect yourself is to make sure your version of Windows is fully patched – or, you know, get a Mac.

Orthodox community raided: At least seven haredi couples have been arrested in New Jersey for allegedly committing welfare fraud.
