Your Daily Spiel is The CJN’s (almost) daily roundup of trending stories in the Jewish world.

Canada

Wasted Wine: The LCBO has ordered vendors to stop selling wines labelled as “Product of Israel” if they’re manufactured in the West Bank. In a letter announcing the new policy, the board said the Canadian Food Inspection Agency specifically mentioned the Pisgat Winery north of Jerusalem and the Shiloh Winery. United States

Catch & Release: Alan Gross, an American Jew convicted of threatening the independence and integrity of Cuba, has made aliyah to Israel. Gross spent five years in a Cuban prison.

Israel

Trumpian Tactics: Israel and the Palestinian Authority announced an agreement that will create a new desalination plant to seek to replenish the shrinking Dead Sea, and provide 33 million cubic metres of drinking water to Palestinians. The Palestinians maintain such an arrangement has no impact upon final-status negotiations.

Life & Culture

Another Israeli wonder woman?: Another Jewish woman will join the ranks of superhero. Milana Vayntrub is set to make her debut starring in New Warriors as Marvel’s Squirrel Girl.
