J.K. Rowling recently got into a Twitter argument with fellow author Simon Maginn over his criticism of Jewish complaints about anti-Semitism in the U.K. Labour Party. Rowling tweeted: “How dare you tell a Jew that their outrage is ‘patently synthetic’?”, and then went on to tweet: “How dare you demand that they lay bare their pain and fear on demand, for your personal evaluation? What other minority would you speak to this way?”.

In an op-ed for the CJN, Liberal MP Anthony Housefather defended his party’s record on Israel and the Jewish community. “Like many in our community, there is nothing more upsetting to me than when the UN unfairly singles out Israel for condemnation. When it comes to the current government’s record on these resolutions versus previous governments, the Trudeau government’s record is by far the best.”

Tyler Hoechlin, Justin Chatwin, Samuel Anderson and Elizabeth Faith Ludlow have just joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix sci-fi drama Another Life. The show will star Katee Sakhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and is created by Canadian Jew Aaron Martin (who was previously the showrunner on Being Erica).

Several lawmakers from the Joint List, an Arab-Israeli political party, are involved in an effort to get the U.N. General Assembly to officially condemn Israel’s nation-state law. Earlier this week, Israel’s Tourism Minister Yariv Levin accused the Arab lawmakers of “treason” and said that he hoped they would be prosecuted on the charge in Israel.
