THE POST OFFICE
Janusz Korczak, eminent Polish-Jewish doctor, author and director of a Jewish orphanage in the Warsaw Ghetto, had the children put on The Post Office, a play by noted Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore, about a dying Hindu boy. It is thought that Korczak used it as an unconscious means to prepare them for imminent death. Korczak refused to be parted from his children, and they were all deported, never to be seen again.
