LAG B’OMER PARADE
The Great Lag b’Omer Parade starts off at 1 p.m. from the parking lot of Beth Israel Beth Aaron Congregation and the caravan heads to Pierre Elliott Trudeau park across the street for a carnival that lasts until 5 p.m. Rides are free with a $5 day pass for the event, sponsored by the Chabad Lubavitch Youth Organization. This is the earliest Lag b’Omer parade in Montreal since 1994, when the holiday fell on April 29. The last year it fell on April 28 was 1899, 114 years ago.

Israeli consul-general Joël Lion and Polish counterpart Andrzej Szydlo marked Yom Hashoah together for the first time at a Quebec City ceremony at the Chateau Laurier Hotel with the Jewish community and its chief Rabbi Dovid Lewin in attendance, as well as MNAs Lawrence Bergman, Daniel Zatthe and Stephane Lebouyonne.
