Your Daily Spiel is The CJN’s daily roundup of trending stories in the Jewish world.

A raised fist, a takedown: JDL Canada initially thought Facebook had removed its page because of its logo, which includes a raised fist. But a spokesperson for the social media giant said it was because of the company’s policy on “dangerous organizations.”

Rolling in green: CJN reporter Paul Lungen smelled weed – or was it money – in his cover story this week, which explored Israel’s and Canada’s growing marijuana industries, and the potential for them to collaborate.

Calling for clemency: The rabbi of former Montreal mayor Michael Applebaum pleaded for leniency at the sentencing hearing earlier this week. He referred to Applebaum as “broken.”

Deep breaths: Donald Trump does not like being called an anti-Semite. Donald Trump was not called an anti-Semite. Specifically, Donald Trump was not called an anti-Semite by an Orthodox reporter at a news conference yesterday, who prefaced a question to the president with the words, “I haven’t seen anyone in my community accuse you or anyone on your staff of being anti-Semitic.”

Only men, no meatballs: Ikea Israel apparently distributes separate promotional catalogues marketed specifically to the ultra-Orthodox community. The catalogues feature no women.
