Yaron Deckel
Yaron is the Regional Director to Canada at the Jewish Agency for Israel. Prior to that, for almost three and a half decades, he was considered one of the most respected and well-known journalists in Israel, as a reporter, editor and show host. He served as the editor in chief and CEO of Galei Tsahal, a national public radio station, as well as the Washington, D.C., bureau chief for Israeli Public TV. He has interviewed three American presidents—George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton—and has closely followed the ins and outs of Israeli politics and governance, developing close relationships with key decision-makers in his home country. Deckel is the winner of several awards, including the Sokolov Award, the most prestigious award for journalists in Israel, and the B’nai Brith award for special coverage of the Jewish community in the U.S.
