Comic actor Sacha Baron Cohen is more Jewish than you think. His mother is Israeli, he’s fluent in Hebrew (his character Borat in fact speaks Hebrew with a bizarre, vaguely Central Asian accent), he spent a year living on a kibbutz as a teenager and he studied history with a focus on anti-Semitism at Cambridge University.

In this episode of A Few of My Favourite Jews, The CJN’s comedy interview podcast, Juno-winning comic Sophie Buddle joins host Laura Leibow to discuss her favourite celebrity, the Oscar-nominated star of Borat, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Les Misérables.

The best is yet to come.

This website—the one you’re on right now—is just the tip of the iceberg. The CJN is building a whole new platform, which will be launching summer 2021. Jewish Canadians will be able to find community events, listen to relevant podcasts, connect with national networks and, of course, read breaking news stories, in-depth analysis and unique perspectives that matter. Subscribe to our newsletter, and follow us on social media, to be the first to see our newest iteration go live.
