Bob Dylan: Once a Jew, always a Jew

Despite his religious flip-flopping, he's still one of the great Jews of our time.

Despite his vague statements, Christian lyrics and brief conversion to evangelicalism, Bob Dylan is considered a Jew by most Jews. He had a bar mitzvah; his parents were involved in B’nai Brith and Hadassah; he went to Camp Herzl. He’s performed in Tel Aviv and at a Chabad telethon.

That’s evidence enough for Jordan Foisy, a comedian and writer, whose favourite Jew is the Nobel-winning troubadour poet and singer born Robert Zimmerman. On our season finale of A Few of My Favourite Jews, The CJN’s comedy interview podcast, Foisy joins comic Laura Leibow to discuss the voice of a generation.

Jewish Canadians deserve more than social media rumours, adversarial action alerts, and reporting with biases that are often undisclosed. The Canadian Jewish News proudly offers independent national coverage on issues that impact our audience each day, as a conduit for conversations that bridge generations.

It’s an outlet you can count on—but we’re also counting on you.
