DETROIT —After opening ceremonies at the Palace of Auburn Hills, where the Detroit Pistons play, Toronto’s team of 59 athletes and 12 coaches got down to business at this summer’s JCC Maccabi Games.
Toronto competed in boys and girls under-16 soccer, girls basketball, boys baseball, tennis, as well as some swimming events. Other Canadian delegations included those from Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Windsor and Hamilton.
Toronto’s medals included a silver in boys under-16 soccer, a silver in tennis singles forDavid Klein, a silver in tennis doubles for Danielle Sadofsky, and a swimming bronze for Josh Suskin.
Next year’s games will be held at the Jewish Community Center of Mid Westchester in Scarsdale, N.Y., with opening ceremonies at Madison Square Garden.
