Ronen Hoffman was one of four new heads of mission who presented their credentials to Governor General Mary Simon at Rideau Hall on Dec. 7. Although he was appointed in July, ambassadors are unable to carry out any duties as state representatives until the presentation ceremony has occurred. Hoffman’s predecessor Nimrod Barkan retired in November 2019, which left the position empty for two years.

Joining him at the ceremony was the new Ambassador of the United States. David Cohen, who is Jewish, also filled a lengthy vacancy—which stood since the departure of Kelly Craft in August of 2019.
