Healer emanates energy from his core

“If you were offered $100,000 or the opportunity to watch your remote control levitate, which would you prefer?” someone asked me.  It was an easy choice for me – I’d take the money.

Zeev Kolman

However, I would not be completely shocked to see a remote control dangling in the air. If you are wondering why, I’ve recently spent time with energy healers and now see the world in a completely different way.

One of the most intriguing experiences I’ve had was with Israeli energy healer Zeev Kolman. Initially, skeptical of even the concept but trusting of the friend who recommended him, I set up an appointment with Kolman while on a New York City trip.

When I arrived at his 57th Street office, Kolman greeted me in the waiting room. He sat down to the left of me and immediately my left eye started twitching. I was a little shocked, as my eyes have never twitched. I was soon to realize this was no coincidence – Kolman has an energy force like I have never felt before.

Soon after we went into his office, Kolman explained the concept of healing through bioenergy. He possesses the ability to transfer an enormous amount of electromagnetic energy to a patient afflicted with a disease, and reportedly this energy helps to create or activate a healing process.

Energy healing powers sound as if they come out of a superhero comic strip. Kolman said that he did not always have these extraordinary abilities. He developed them after a life-changing experience while  on reserve duty with the Israeli army in the Sinai desert.

Getting down to business, he first looked at my aura, trying to find areas it might be weak or needing energy. I admit, while this was interesting, it was out of my realm of understanding, and seemed a little strange to me, too.

After a short discussion, I hopped onto the table in Kolman’s office, lay down on my back, wondering why I had gotten myself into this situation. Kolman rubbed his hands together and stood above my head. He didn’t touch me, but I started to feel pricks of energy pulsating and moving around inside my body. It was delightful and frightening all at once.

I kept trying to understand what exactly was happening. Kolman continued to wave his hands over areas of my body, and I kept feeling waves of energy moving around those areas. It felt like a pleasant form of static electricity.

Allowing energy to shift around the body is supposed to be a relaxing experience, but it was so strange that my mind kept trying to process the sensations, but to no avail.

Since this experience, I have tried acupuncture, but it’s simply not the same. Kolman seems to emanate energy from his very core being, and it felt as if he gave me energy as well as moving my existing energy.

My friend who recommended me to Kolman goes to see him every once in a while for an energy tune-up, and I can certainly see why. Kolman has some kind of gift that I don’t claim to understand, as it really is over my head, but somehow his energy works. I certainly felt the difference.

In my quest to understand how energy works in healing, I decided to try a more hands-on experience and that brought me to Tibetan Buddhist monk Dhargya Lobsang, who practises a unique method of massage, “Tibetan tantric yoganic.” His parents were massage therapists and healers, so he has been doing massage since he was seven years old.

I arrived at the Hotel Valley Ho Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., and was pleasantly surprised with the retro design of the hotel. It seemed fitting for my next adventure, and the upstairs spa is cozy and discreet.

Decked out in my blue spa robe, I greeted Dhargya Lobsang, who showed me to a treatment room. I immediately knew this was no conventional massage, as I was required to actually do something – to move.

Dhargya Lobsang had me moving and sitting in a number of, shall we say, “ouch” positions. Rolling my shoulders, squatting, shaking my hips, I was truly wondering where this was all going, as parts of my body, once happily asleep, woke up.

Once he was sure my muscles were warmed up, he had me place my arms in the air and lean back onto his back. He then lifted me off the floor, and I could feel my back pulling. He explained how the monks practise these moves because, just as they need to stretch their minds, it is important to stretch their bodies.

His treatment focuses on opening up specific muscles, using trigger points and acupressure. He twisted me and turned me, massaging specific nerves, and I felt like a pretzel. It was a mix of yoga meets physical therapy meets healer.

While I was on the massage table, Dhargya Lobsang explained that he was going to open my energy channels. Again, I don’t quite profess to understand how energy healing works, but it was quite an experience, mentally and physically. By the time I left the hotel, I seemed to float a few feet over the ground.

So if anyone asks me about levitating, well, if I can float, why not a remote control?
