With so much going on this summer, we’ve put together five worthwhile events:
The 9th Annual Pitch for Israel
The Pitch for Israel on Aug. 7 is a community-wide softball tournament in support of Israeli families in need. All of the proceeds raised from the tournament fundraiser support Jewish National Fund and OneFamily Fund. There are three divisions: men’s softball, women’s softball and co-ed slow-pitch. It will be great day of softball, food, and fun in support of two great causes.
2016 Jewish Comedy Festival Presents: Jews on the Roof
2016 Toronto Jewish Comedy Festival features a hilarious line-up of Jewish comedic talent from Canada and USA, on August 14th. When your history is full of pogroms and persecution, what else can you do but laugh? It will be a night of laughs and chutzpah – though it may not all be kosher!
Tu B’Av: For the Love of Music
Join JUMP on Aug. 18 at the Cameron House for Tu B’Av: For the Love of Music, a night of music and mingling in celebration of the holiday of love. Evan Malach and Band and Aiden Myers will perform.
2016 OneFamily Fund Golf Tournament
Tee off for young victims of terror. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the OneFamily Canada Golf Tournament. It promises to be an extraordinary day on of golf on August 22. To date, this tournament has raised almost $1 million and has impacted the lives of thousands of Victims of Terror in Israel who have benefitted from the programs.
Ashkenaz Festival 2016
The Ashkenaz Festival is one of the largest showcases of Jewish music and culture in the world. Founded as a showcase for Klezmer and Yiddish music and culture, it has evolved into a showcase of global Jewish art and culture and cross-cultural fusion. It’s offered 90 per cent free to the public and includes music, dance, theatre, film, literature, art.
