Former Toronto Jewish day school teacher pleads not guilty to sexual offences, students dress in concentration camp uniforms for party, Maccabi Tel Aviv wins basketball championship.

Stephen Joseph Schacter, a former teacher at two Toronto-area Jewish day schools, has pleaded not guilty to several sexual offences. He is charged with three counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, two counts of sexual exploitation, and one count of gross indecency.

Students from Australia’s Charles Sturt University dressed in Nazi uniforms, concentration camp prisoner uniforms and Ku Klux Klan robes for a “politically incorrect” themed costume party on Thursday.

Maccabi Tel Aviv won the national basketball championship Thursday evening, defeating Hapoel Holon in a 95-75 victory. This was the basketball team’s 52nd trophy, ending a four-year drought of losses.

The FIFA international soccer federation has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the president of the Palestinian soccer team for alleged incitement that led to the cancellation of the friendly match in Jerusalem between Israel and Argentina.
