Broad City unveils Yom Kippur special, may film episode in Israel

There’s no doubt that Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are the two coolest Jewish girls in television. The self-proclaimed “Jewesses trying to make a buck” offer very relatable, albeit, raunchy humour via their Comedy Central show, Broad City, and the first two seasons surely struck a chord with fans.

With season three of the Amy Poehler-endorsed show still far away (starting in February, 2016), the girls have teamed have teamed up with Entertainment Weekly to bring back their web series, Hack Into Broad City, to tide us over until then. The ladies will be unveiling six new installments of the show over the next six weeks, to be aired every Tuesday.

With the first episode released today (hours before Jews around the world begin their 25-hour fast for Yom Kippur), it’s only fitting that the episode revolves around Jacobson and Glazer’s attempt to fast on this holy day of atonement.

Americans can watch the first episode here, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Us Canadians, unfortunately, will have to wait until the Comedy Network uploads it to their site.

In other Jewish-related Broad City news, Jerusalem Post reports that a casting call for the popular Comedy Central show indicates that an episode will be aired in Israel at the end of October.

The Tel Aviv casting call announced that the episode will follow Glazer and Jacobson on a Birthright-style trip to Israel, and the show is looking for English-speaking young adults to accompany them around the country.

So for all you English-speakers who’ve either made aliyah or simply reside in Israel, take comfort in the fact that, while you may have to start your 25-hour fast soon, come October you could meet and travel around Israel with two of the hippest Jews on the planet.

Have an easy fast.
